COMPENSATION IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS
The consolidated text of the Law on Civil Liability and Insurance in the Circulation of Motor Vehicles, approved by Royal Legislative Decree 8/2004, of October 29, establishes that annually, with effect from January 1 of each year, the compensation amounts that are included in the system for the assessment of damages and losses caused to people in traffic accidents must be updated and, therefore they will be automatically updated in the percentage of the general consumer price index corresponding to the immediately preceding calendar year .
For this reason, a resolution is published each year stating the amounts of compensation for deaths, permanent injuries, and temporary disabilities that will result from the use of the system for calculating the damages caused to persons each year in traffic accidents.
